Tonight’s gig started a little differently, filming Anne Estella interviewing the band and what nice chaps they are too (keep an eye on https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCgLsQLa5xqUtZvZJKw_3v3Q for the results). This is no surprise though, I’ve been following these geordie rockers for years, so I suspect have most of the packed out Ritz judging by some of the shirts on display. That dedication is rewarded right out of the gates with a ferocious version of Everlone. This isn’t a nostalgia-fest though as new song Diagnosis follows and threatens to tear the roof off. That said we do get Vanilla Radio, Shitsville, TV Tan, Sick of Drugs. This lot though I think could play anything. A Wildhearts show is all about letting go, bouncing along and there’s ample opportunity. Ginger, despite being under whether, is ironically infectious. His positivity onstage, it’s impossible not to get swept up in. As Headfuck and I Wanna Go close the set my ears are ringing, my feet throbbing and my jaw aching from smiling, singing and hollering. Wildhearts, fucking brilliant!
