It’s my 60th and final gig of the year. I’m at The Ritz again for the second sold out show from Manchester legends The Slow Readers Club. I don’t really need to say anything more about this band, other than tonight is probably the best I’ve seen them. Come watch them live, if they don’t move you, check your pulse. After 60 gigs I’m a bit tapped out, but it’s been an amazing year and there’s not a better band I’d like to cap it off with. There’s something about live music with the right band that can touch you. Whether that’s bouncing 3 feet from the stage or intimate sound waves reaching you through a toilet door as you stare at an imperfection in a wall. It’s special, magic, it matters, it’s art, I don’t know what the fuck it is, but if you feel it grab hold, ride it, embrace it, love it. So Merry Christmas, I hope you get some gig tickets from Santa, who knows I might see you punching the air in a venue in 2020, utter joyous abandon in your eyes as you lose yourself in live music. “I am forever in your debt”. ❤️
