Cracking gig tonight... as in an absolutely mindblowingly brilliant gig! First up we’re Rival Bones, all power chords and enough clout to make me don earplugs. Seriously, I don’t do earplugs, but Night People is one of those great small venues that because of its size, packs even more punch. Next up were Naked Six, who having listened to before I quite liked (although not as much as Rival Bones). However with the singer dressed like a French mime artist mimicking a chicken being electrocuted (Seriously, I checked to see he’d not got his foot stuck in his effects pedals) I did struggle to warm to them. The drummer though was pretty good, in a dumbed down Grohl kinda way. But enough mucking around, tonight is about Tax The Heat and make no mistake this is the best band you’ve not yet heard of. Meeting somewhere between QOSTA and OKGO, they deliver foot stomping funky rock n roll in spades... full on, I dare you not to smile, dance, sing, punch the air, “THIS IS AMAZING” rock. Two brilliant albums and a couple of EPs in, this lot are bloody tight live, so confident they call for requests from their back catalogue and smash it!! Couple all that with the fact they look the part, effortlessly so, this band should be massive. So good I bought the vinyl (ltd edition and signed, they’re lovely blokes too). My ears are ringing and I can’t stop smiling!!!
