Welcome to Victoria Warehouse, the shitest venue in Manchester! The sound is better than the last time I came here, but it’s still a fucking disaster. Vastly oversold again, O2 and the promoter should be given a hefty kick up the arse. Thankfully Supergrass sound pretty awesome... just as well really as I can’t see them. We get 90 minutes of greatest hits and crowd pleasers, including a raucous Mansize Rooster and Caught By the Fuzz. Gaz Coombes is in fine voice and thankfully it still fills this soulless shithouse right to the back as we seek refuge and air near the bar. Good luck getting a beer though, the bar staff in here don’t appear to know what planet they’re on. All in all this gig won’t be remembered fondly and I’d urge you to stay away from this venue (I’ve got three more gigs booked here, dammit), but Supergrass are still a great band with more belting songs than you’d think. Yes the venue is awful, but a truly great band should be able to transport you anywhere and I’m really glad I didn’t “stay at home tonight”.
