I’ve been itching to see this band for months. Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs or Pigs x7 if you’re lazy, are brutal and even more so live. It’s been a while since I’ve seen a band this heavy, this loud! Seriously Mogwai would raise an eyebrow at this volume. The sold out Rebellion is heaving as the guttural reverb buzzes through our collective ears (one bloke holds his... seriously it’s loud). Guitars are rung within an inch of their existence, drums are pulverised and the vocals are devastatingly dominant, the only sound registering in the top end and I’m pretty sure the tipping point for my hearing taking on a distinctive ring tomorrow. Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs (I refuse to abbreviate) are not for the faint hearted, but boy can these Geordies put on one helluva show! Hard, heavy and uncompromising. They’re fantastic. There’s echoes of Ministry at their slowest and without the electronics, but this is pure analogue power, more hardcore, more punk. Unleashed untamed, oddly melodic, primal and sure to sell out an even bigger venue when they return. I’ll be there next time... maybe with some ear protection though.
