Manchester is busy with kids off to watch Little Mix tonight . Have I been watching Little Mix? No, no I have not. I’ve been watching the unmistakable Moonlandingz who are... well quite frankly a bit bonkers. We saw this band at Glastonbury and fell in love. Granted there’s a spectacle to be seen, Johnny Rocket donning red face paint and pigtails in some possible fraggle tribute, but there’s also tunes! Think Jesus & Mary Chain crossed with Add N to X, stick a bit of The Cramps in and then dismiss all comparisons, because nothing sounds quite like this lot and that’s the point. It’s music with the gloves off and that’s as wonderful as it sounds. They are the house-band soundtrack to a debauched dystopian nightmare. Long live rock and look out for the roll.
