Now I’ll admit, I’ve not really been one for the Southern Blues Rock thing since The Black Crowes lost it, but I’ve gotta say seeing Gorilla Riot live is an absolute must. No fuss, foot stomping ear destruction delivered by 5 lads, so tight they could crush you like... well, a gorilla. It’s not just the timing that’s perfect, it’s the whole damn thing and it’s bloody good fun. It’s hard and heavy with touches of AC/DC, but hook laden and soulful too, making it impossible not to feel it from your bobbing head complete with face splitting smile to tapping toes. It’s clear that the crowd are into it too, Factory is packed although it clears for the headliner Laura Cox (a YouTube sensation apparently, I’m not convinced). The sound in Factory is great as well but the bar is really shit, fear not though Gorilla Riot will have you smiling all the way down the Manchester Delta.
