I love The Deaf Institute and I’ve seen some awesome gigs here, but nothing like Amyl and the Sniffers. A blistering set of Power Punk ROCK! nearly bludgeoned one of my favourite venues back to the 70s. A sold out crowd, worryingly with an alarming amount of mullets pogoed, threw beer and generally went nuts for 45 minutes of spectacular punk muscle from these bloody bizarre looking Aussies. Singer Amy Taylor is the epitome of cool, a front-women with explosive energy, crowd surfing, shadow boxing, whipping everyone into a frenzy without missing a beat, quite stunning! Punk is alive, well and sounding fantastic. Mullets though, seriously?
